I was shocked, but it wasn't utter disbelief, as I called it prior when they attended that wedding. I stated here that they both looked 'conspiratorial'. At the same time, I literally had to back off from my computer and widen my eyes to ensure I didn't get it wrong, or that it wasn't just another rumour. @ Ceri: thank you and great post yourself! I'm definitely 'incredulous' that he actually went through with it. I honestly believed that he would call it off, as arrangements seemed to be slow to unfold. That, and the Queen's lack of permission for some time. I also agree, Ceri, that there is some extenuating circumstance as to why he married her. I think she was turning the screws regarding his sexuality, perhaps. I think she may have used it as emotional blackmail of some sort. For example: "I'm sick of being your cover, this isn't fair to me, and I want my dues paid now. I have suffered enough ridicule as being called "Waity Katie", as has my family. If you don't marry me and give me that title, I'm through! Remember, you promised!" That kind of thing is my guess. I don't think there was any formal attempt, because that is very serious and a criminal offence. The BRF could have dealt with that in short order. Something made William nervous, and I think that something might have been Kate leaving, rumours may have surfaced and his inability to find a woman to marry him - any woman.

Well said June. More and more I think that's what happened or at least closed to it. It just doesn't make sense that he married her and yet, continue to display a very conflicted man. The only thing that makes sense to me is the thought or idea that Kate somehow, blackmailed him. Yes, it's a strong sentiment but people throughout history have done worse in the name of social climbing.

Thanks, Ceri. Yes, I agree with you, there is something decidedly "off" and 'worse' things have a happened 'in the name of social climbing'. I just don't think small-time players like the Midds could lord it over the BRF, but I do think Kate was using emotional blackmail against William - definitely. I know it isn't a popular opinion shared by all, but I do think he's gay. It's the only thing that makes sense to me as to why he married this lazy, vapid woman. She cannot even keep house - that much is obvious! If she could, she wouldn't be "bored" as keeping house take time and effort. It's not as though Kate is an intellectual woman who would get bored with domestic tasks. I just have to make clear: I have never and will never accuse the Midds of blackmailing William, in the criminal sense. I don't believe they would and it is a defamatory imputation, for sure. I personally don't want to go there. I do however believe that Kate has emotionally blackmailed William. There was a media report that she used to taunt him about never being able to find a woman to marry him. That is a form of blackmail, harassment or intimidation - and I believe it.
