I hate to say "I told you so", but I've maintained that, despite their best efforts, the Cambridges will not be welcome in Oz anytime soon. We have many political problems in this country and a royal tour would just go down like a lead balloon. Honestly, no Gvt that wanted to stay in power would even mention a royal tour right now ... the Queen is coming to Perth in October, but for business (CHOGM). Their next tour will be to the Caribbean - apparently - though they want to come to NZ and Oz. ;D Oh, my William is utterly delusional about us Aussies! ;D www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2033516/Kate-Middletons-boyfriend-finds-love-girl-bears-resemblance-Duchess.html

Despite our political problems, Australia is a great country, even if I'm biased. So, I can't say I blame him for trying. Also, we are not "warm and fuzzy" like some other countries, so he might see us as a challenge. That, and the threat of becoming a republic. Sydney is absolutely magnificent when one is rich. Honestly, William could have a great life here. It's just difficult in Sydney if you aren't rich, as it's one of the most expensive cities in the world, particularly for property. It's very densely populated in particular key areas. I'm hopeful to go and see one of the most magnificent harbour mansions this week - just to see how the other half live, LOL. I could buy it if I had ~ $15-20M. It's a bargain! LOL. ;D Many international celebrities buy property here and some even settle. William was treated like a King when he was here ALONE. He thinks that will extend to lazy Waity too. Personally, I'm just glad that we've got issues in our country, because that will ensure no royal tours by anyone - except if the Queen (as Head of State) extends her CHOGM visit. Also, William has friends in Sydney. He likes the water and beaches, so Sydney would suit him well.

You're welcome Ceri. I hope I don't jinx it, though. Next thing we know, he and Waity will be on a confirmed "tour" to Oz! Ugggh! No, seriously, it won't happen in the near future, it's just not possible. I just feel that they've been told a stern "No!" at this time. ;D PW was rumoured to want the GG position in Oz - which also cannot happen. It has to be an Australian citizen, because of the perceived conflict of interest. In reality, Australians want our real Head of State to be Australian - the Queen is Head of State, but in name only. We have a reputation for being laid back and not workaholics, so obviously William thinks we would be welcoming to lazy Waity. I think William wants out of the scrutiny in the UK. But what he doesn't realise is that Australians would be even more hostile to his lazy wife should they wear out their welcome. What business does she have taking our taxpayer dollars? That would be the question posed by many. It's bad enough when he's been on his own. The "goodwill" that William enjoys in Australia is appreciably because of our affection for Diana. That doesn't extend to Waity IMO. I think that William has just got to learn that in this day and age, people don't appreciate workshy, lazy, gold-digging, vapid, spoilt brats like Kate. He should have ensured that she was seen to be working solidly before marriage so that the "little" people would warm to her. And no, IMO pretending to work at PP for all of 5 minutes doesn't count! ::)Even rich people in business don't really like a lack of accomplishment. Surely, William had to see this backlash coming?
