Does this woman ever do anything that remotely resembles WORK? How is learning to speak Welsh going to help her? It's not as though it's a requirement.
This woman is a certified procrastinator, and likes to "dabble" in various areas of study, without actually accomplishing anything.
If she didn't meet William, I'll just bet she still would never have held down a real job. IMO, she would just be swanning around, doing various short courses, waiting for a rich husband. I don't think she could apply herself to further formal tertiary education.

She has been living there for years she should have picked it up by now! I learnt it in a year and I was only spending time there part time.
Also actually if she is going to be Princess of Wales one day it is a requirement.
Charles learnt Welsh, Diana did (one of her first speeches as Princess was in fluent Welsh) and William has been learning it too in preparation for his future role.

What I mean is, it shouldn't be her sole focus and at the expense of actually doing duties. Take CP Mary, for example. She was learning Danish (a difficult language, apparently) whilst still doing her duties. And, let's face it: Mary had to learn Danish as a requisite.
Kate will not ever be just the Princess of Wales. It's really a title for historic purposes only. After all, let's be honest: once William finishes his stint, they won't be residing in Wales. I'm not suggesting that she shouldn't learn it, but that there are other things for her to be focusing on.
I get that "one day" she will be Princess of Wales (perish the thought) but that day is not yet. There are other things that should be her priority, IMO.

well the thing is that she isn't Learning it like mary is she she is just picking it up in otherwords she is doing nothing more than normal walking around and picking it up so there is no time involved allt he more reason to work she is ridiculous when will the press point out she isn't working!

IMO deep down, I think the press is aware that she does nothing all day and that she is just one plain lazy hag; however, they have to make money, therefore, they have to create the "Princess Kate" myth. I don't know on how long they're going to drag this ridiculous thing they called the Duchess of Cambridge. There has to be a breaking point as far as the press is concerned.

I was never using it as an excuse for her to do nothing just saying it is something as Princess Of Wales one day she will NEED.
Every Prince and Princess of Wales has learnt Welsh and do speeches in Welsh. Also Kate's first duty involved her singing the Welsh national anthem in Welsh so it is something she has needed already.
Even after his Military stint William has Kate will visit and have ties to Wales in preparation for their future roles.
But learning a language is something you can do while still working and not even living in the country itself.
As I said above I learnt Welsh while not living in the country and in Uni with 2 part time jobs. So I was not saying she should do nothing but do that. Quite the opposite actually,

yup i think all of us agree that waity picking up language such as
'can i have my food to go' follwed by ' where is the nearest dumpster out of view'
is no accomplishement escpcially as it is
a. not formal education b. she is doing fuck all anyway
so she is still doing fuck all but now she just 'learns' the language as in 'where is the frozen pizza' and 'chips'

She should have learnt this prior to marriage especially as she was living their part time.
She should be fluent and giving speeches in Welsh

That, and the fact that it was far more essential for Mary to learn the language of her new country and over which she will one day reign. No comparison between her and Waity. Mary had to hit the books full-time, I believe. She needed to master the Danish language (though she apparently hasn't and just gets by). If Kate can't master the Welsh language, it's not going to cause a stir, really. Welsh isn't the universal language of the UK and Commonwealth, after all. It might be insensitive and indelicate, but it won't matter in the grand scheme of things. Kate singing the National Anthem in Welsh was just her choice - not an immediate requirement - and a chance to show that she was intelligent and dedicated. Thanks mousie for the clarification.

June, Welsh is very important.
As a Brit please understand that Wales is a country within itself and they are very proud of their heritage and their language and they would never accept someone who could not speak their language.
Welsh is spoken by every Welshmen and you cannot go anywhere without hearing it spoken.
It may not be on the scale of Mary learning Danish but is is the same thing.
She is most definitely without question have to sing the Welsh National Anthem
She has to speak Welsh the language of the country she will be Princess of.
If she did not they would not accept her simple as.
